BALI • SEPTEMBER 1-12, 2025

From the moment a first-timer witnesses the sun rise above the Bali Sea, with jukungs (traditional fishing boats) at the water’s edge and Lombok Island in the distance, they’re hooked. Maybe it’s the smell of incense from the villager’s religious offerings that permeate the air. Maybe it’s the tranquility of being at a resort that has no mega lobby, food courts, or swim-up bars. Or maybe it’s the absence of other tourists in this less-traveled corner of the island. Whatever the reason, Bali has a vibe that can’t be beat.

Getting to Bali is easy. Finding accommodations and day tours in Bali is also easy. Maximizing the experience on the expansive island is not easy. That’s why a cookie-cutter itinerary just won’t cut it (pun intended). Let’s get it straight, this is a 100% custom package. It’s impossible to find an identical offering anywhere else. This is a self care and spiritual well being retreat. This is a dive and snorkel trip. This is a discovery into Balinese culture and tradition. And actually this trip is so much more. It’s hard to believe that people visit the island and all they do is seek Instagram hot spots. That’s a crime. The group will explore waterfalls, villages, and a water palace. One day everyone will river raft and another day rent scooters and ride along the coast. Guests will “play” with wild monkeys (if brave enough), enjoy local cuisine, music, and dance. And, of course, everyone will have the opportunity to indulge in plenty of inexpensive massages.

At this point, many readers are probably already convinced, but Seasick and Sacred Ally would be remiss if price wasn’t mentioned. It is difficult to find a destination with more value. Eleven nights in two different resorts plus all the aforementioned AND airfare for roughly five grand make this trip a no-brainer.

Sacred Ally is the premier empowerment arts center in the Rocky Mountains of Missoula Montana. This community oriented organization is born of a vision to curate transformative experiences that connect people deeper to their soul. Sacred Ally offers a space where people can slow down and come into alignment with what they truly desire. With a wide range of modalities from breathwork and sound journey’s to cacao ceremonies and ecstatic dance, Sacred Ally is a hub for spirit based health and wellness practices. Sacred Ally reaches beyond the mountains of Montana through intentional retreat experiences around the globe. These retreats are meant to inspire the deepest parts of one's heart to align with the joy and magic of life.

THE RETREAT

Immerse oneself in ancient therapeutic practices that will inspire and rejuvenate the soul. Sacred Ally's wellness retreat provides an unparalleled Bali experience, blending revitalizing health classes with luxurious resort accommodations. Take a "deep dive" (pun intended), exploring these practices while pushing the boundaries of one’s comfort zones. This retreat is crafted to guide each person beyond the edges of their everyday reality, into a realm of spiritual growth, new cultural experiences, and the beauty of nature.

Cacao Ceremony: Helps to remember who one truly is by guiding them out of their head and into their heart. Blends intention, meditation and gentle movement with the heart opening power of cacao.
Visionary Breathwork Ceremony: Unlock limiting beliefs while accessing deep healing and empowerment through the power of breath. Liberate one’s spirit through clearing the body of energetic stagnation expanding perceptions of consciousness.
Ecstatic Dance: For eons, humans have been accessing altered states of consciousness through the power of repetitive movement and dance. This is a high vibrational container to liberate the body through the power of dance.
Manifestation Ceremony: Turn attraction beams on through aligning the heart, thoughts and energy towards what one truly desires in life.
DSP: Daily Set Point is a quick and easy practice to set oneself up for joy, ease and success.

SARAH AND PETER SCHAEFGEN

Sarah and Peter Schaefgen are co-founders of Sacred Ally. Together they create intentional containers across multiple heart centered modalites. They are a power couple dedicated to creating sacred spaces for people to transform and empower their lives. Sarah and Peter hold such a beautiful blend of masculine and feminine energy in their offerings. They blend safety with strength and healing with empowerment. Together they weave magic into the world through their love and devotion to service.

Sarah brings the feminine grace of space holding to her women’s circles and cacao ceremonies. In addition to running Sacred Ally and facilitating intentional containers, she mentors and empowers women towards leading a soul led life. Through both online and in person courses and retreat experiences, Sarah inspires women of all walks of life to align with their core nature and authentic expression.

Peter plays a pivotal role in his community as a men's advocate. He has walked to the edge of society’s masculine conditioning, and it was there that he broke through the illusions and stepped into embodying the divine masculine path. Peter carries a passion for guiding men back into their sole purpose through sacred men’s work. He offers various types of growth experiences via men’s circles and workshops. His own healing journey led him to study the energetic properties and ancient practices of sound as a healing modality. He offers both one on one sound healing sessions and monthly community sound journeys with his wife, Sarah.

Together, Sarah and Peter are pillars in their community for ushering the sacred into everyday life.

BALI

The Republic of Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world with over 17,000 islands spreading between the Pacific and the Indian Oceans. Straddling the equator, the islands of Indonesia bridge the continents of Asia and Australia with a population of more than 280 million people, 200+ ethnic groups, and over 300 spoken languages or dialects. Among the most well-known islands are Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (formerly Borneo), Sulawesi (formerly Celebes), the Maluku Islands (better known as Moluccas), Papua — and Bali.

Also known as the Land of the Gods, Bali is more than a beautiful island; it is a magical experience with its spectacular mountain scenery, looming volcanoes, lush rainforests, and terraced rice fields. Bali enchants with its dramatic dances and colorful ceremonies. It pampers with its luxurious beach resorts. It thrills with its world-class diving. And everywhere on this lovely island visitors will meet warm and friendly people. With a population of over four million, the island is home to the vast majority of Indonesia's small Hindu minority. The Balinese are a most devout people, and a large part of their lives is dedicated to rites and ceremonies aimed at maintaining harmony in this world.

DIVING

Tulamben was once an anonymous fishing village in the dry lands of Karangasem. Today, it’s one of Bali’s busiest diving destinations. What draws scores of divers from around the world? The USAT Liberty and top-tier muck diving. The Liberty shipwreck is considered Bali's most popular dive site. The American ship was an armed cargo steamship that was torpedoed by the Japanese in 1942. The years under the sea have transformed it to one of Indonesia's most beautiful artificial reefs. Stunning gorgonian sea fans, huge soft coral trees and big barrel sponges all flourish here. The ship is a haven for emperor fish, batfish, sweetlips, and parrotfish. For many, the name “Bali” conjures up images of rice paddies, beautiful beaches and towering temples. Yet, for those in the know, this iconic Indonesian island is more often seen as home to some of the best diving in the world. But not just any diving: muck diving. What is muck diving? It’s a dive experience that defines the mud and mire that lay at the bottom of many dive sites. It is here where the treasures are found. The macro bonanza starts in just knee-deep water: juvenile moray eels, lionfish, anemone shrimp, needle shrimp, zebra crab, nudibranch, ghost pipefish, boxer crab, frogfish, mimic octopus, scorpionfish; the list is endless.

In summary, Tulamben’s dive sites offer great diversity: vertical walls and sandy slopes, shipwrecks, limestone shorelines and black volcanic outcrops, peaceful bays, and coral-covered ridges.

PADI Open Water Diver certification
As the first scuba certification level, a PADI Instructor will teach students how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. By the end of the course, students will have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world. Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology (either offline or online), then learn basic scuba skills in a pool (or pool-like environment) with a PADI Instructor. When students are ready, they make four training dives in an open water environment (ocean or lake, for example) with an instructor’s support and guidance.

PADI Discover Scuba Diving
Want to sample scuba diving before deciding to get the PADI Open Water Diver certification? During a Discover Scuba Diving experience, students can try scuba diving for the first time in a pool or calm water environment. A PADI Professional will provide scuba gear, explain basic scuba diving skills and answer questions. Discover Scuba Diving is the perfect way to test the waters (pun intended). In a very short time, students learn basic scuba skills and take their first breaths underwater.
